How long must this dreadful sofa be tolerated and how much longer will the authorities fail to act.? Already a plastic chair was attracted to the same area the other day. This menace is a threat to us all. When will we have any action from the fragments that are left of our once powerful(allegedly) area committee? Bring back the days of Nairn District Council, that's what I say. Meg Anderson and Chrissie Ellen would have stopped this developing porblem in its tracks.
The good old days are gone now and our city fathers are a mere shawdow of their formidable forerunners. Something will have to be done before a vigilante group is formed and innocent sofas suffer for the reckless actions of this evil piece of furniture. Are our representatives only interested in the furniture at Glen Urquart Road - how can anyone sit on their backside while this is going on.
Think globally, gurn locally - phone your councillor now!

It gets worse. A red armchair was seen on the East beach on Saturday. Maybe the residents of Nairn are going hippy and throwing out all their chairs, to be replaced by floor cushions and the such like? Peace!
Well done citizens your comments are very encouraging and your vigilance is extraordinary. If I had my way I would give you a civic award or at least 24 ours with the gold chain, with special permission to wear it in the bath. This blog envisages you as the nucleus of a citizens’ ‘virtual’ militia to defend our town on-line as we go forward into the new millennium: ready to gurn at the mere drop of a piece of soft furnishing and to defeat the whimps who simply want to sent used furniture to the dump without punishing it if it runs away. This blog is proud of you, please reward yourselves with a custard slice.
All blogers should go to the Dolphin chipper as well - mind-blowing chips, you won't regret it.
I'm saving up to buy a scone in the classroom however:-)
My dear friends David (smiley) Stewart MP and Maureen Macmillan MSP sent me a statement and questionnaire today with regard to anti-social behaviour but they completley missed out red sofas. These folk don't seem to have their fingers on the pulse of the community anymore if they haven't included sofas as an anti-social problem. But they are going to further the Police State by bringing in the likes of ASBOs and the Police will be able to move on groups (couldn't it be The Police and then Sting could come along to help). I could be wrong but closing the youth cafe (getting confused here... should that be The Youth Cafe?) and generally knocking back provision for young people surely means if they venture away from TV and computer games there is not alot to do? Waving my liberal (should that be Liberal) flag even more does 24/7 opening of hotels and bars not mean we will see an increased alcohol behavior problem (I know 'oor pin stripe kiltie Jack' said recently is was OK to get blootered). I am now waving my grumpy old git flag as along with a 'never shut the door policy', booze is dead cheap - a bottle of spirits costs less than it did 30 years ago, So maybe the answer is to lower the age that young people can drink so they can all pile in the pubs, then under the new 'closure of premises' measure the Polis can lock them in till they are in a fit state to enter society again e.g. the streets?
