'The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 came fully into force on 1 January 2005 and introduced a general right of access to information held by public authorities, including The Highland Council.
Subject to certain conditions and exemptions, any person who makes a request in writing (or some other permanent form) to a public authority will be entitled to receive it.
The Act is being promoted and enforced by a fully independent Scottish Information Commissioner. '

I've not done so yet, but I quite fancy asking a few organisations some awkward questions.
ReplyDeleteIf you're going to contact the Highland Council, or anyone else, I'd recommend using this brilliant website:
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/
The advantage is you don't have to go searching through all the different websites, but better still others get to see what you've asked (and what the answer was) + you can see what others asked (provided they used this website of course. It also states what requests each organisation has outstanding.
Hi Rhys, thanks for that
