Building a fairer and healthier Highlands

It seems that even if they wished to do so, Highland Council cannot sell the millions of pounds of investments it has placed in the tobacco industry without councillors facing the possibility of  ‘punitive penalties, including censure, suspension and disqualification’.
The P&J reports that the council took legal advice with regard to the matter, but has been advised that ethical grounds do not provide a good enough reason for the sale.
So counter to the strong health advise given by Highland Council, help their non-ethical investments out by buying some fags and lighting up.
Will any councilor be prepared to put their neck on the line over this issue, I certainly hope so.

i would hope so to we could use some money for more allotments in the highlands. but then again it is the highland council we are talking about all the things they do are back to front. or they have not got a clue and who is paying for this once again the taxpayers.
