A body was recovered from the River Nairn this morning at approximately 10.30 from the Harbour Street area parallel with Monitory Place. Large areas of the riverside walks were cordoned off both on Harbour Street and over on the Maggot. The north side of the A96 bridge footpath was also blocked off by police.

'About 07.30 a.m on Sunday, 3rd May 2009 the body of a male person was found in the River Nairn near to the Merryton foot bridge in Nairn. The male is aged between 30 and 45 years of age, 5` 8`` tall, with short cropped dark hair and wearing a blue `T` shirt, blue jeans and white trainers.
The Police are asking for the assistance of the public who may have seen the male or who were in the area between 05.00 a.m and 07.30 a.m on Sunday 3rd May 2009.

The Police also wish to trace a male and female who were seen on the riverside footpath at the rear of Harbour Street, Nairn about 06.00 a.m. They may have information that can be of assistance.
