Yes, and I was caught in it on the stretch between Merryton Stores and Grants Garage. I thought I would make it over to Boath Park before it came on. Where I got the strength to hang on to my big Silvercross pram with baby inside I will never know ... My legs were bleeding with the force of the hailstones. So roughly speaking that would be about 29 years or so ago.
Ah yes I remember that, I was in school (the Academy)you could not see 3 feet in front of you the rain was so heavy. My mother who worked in a local bakers remembers as well saying "the high street was like a river with hailstones the size of golf balls".. Ah those were the days.... hahaha.. Neil
