From booze house to coffee house

An application has been received by Highland Council for the former Haddow's offlince building. Before long we could all be enjoying a coffee in the Whyte House.

I understand it might be in the style of an Amsterdam coffee shop of which I'm very fond

How on earth can Nairn be asked to support yet another coffee shop? Folk will be falling out the shop high on caffeine causing all sorts of social issues. Sugar cubes could be dropped on the new streetscape paving. More than likely there will be tables and chairs on the pavement outside, and you know what that means - smokers
Saturday mornings will mean the coffee morning wifies will be trying to get another fix of their chosen substance, causing all sorts of pedestrian chaos which might even require the presence of a police person to sort it all out
Having just eaten their breakfast at home the Trades folk will be double parking their vans whilst running in to get their second one of the day
And then there is the noise from making the coffee. Potentially you could have two Gaggias running at the same time, the decibel level is likely to be so great that folk will be shouting at each other just to be heard
Once again Highland Council planners will have got it very wrong if they allow yet another coffee shop to pollute our High Street

Dosen't matter what it is (that's up to the person taking the risk with a new business) at least it's filling an empty shop. Not that there are many of them in Nairn, unlike Inverness!

"Dosen't matter what it is "

What a crass statement, of course it matters as to what businesses are being run on Nairn High Street, or any High Street for that matter!

Surely such an outrageous planning application will bring the usual host of objections - the proposed size of coffee cups, the poor range of buns on offer......

  7. Maybe we could have a sports pie shop then if there are too many coffee houses already.
