The A96 road surface in Nairn - The Video

We posted pictures earlier today and here's the video. Not only are the potholes a danger to drivers but they are also making life unpleasant for pedestrians as fragments of road surface fly in the direction of the pavement as the potholes expand.

you should have a look at the road from the railway bridge to the hospital, its getting worse and u can see it

I was there said...

This is only one part of the road system as well. I'm sure there are plenty of other potholes about the town. I recently walked up and down the railway brae heading towards the hospital and it's getting in a right state. As mentioned there is a real danger to pedestrians from flying debris which can be seen on the pavement on both parts of the brae.

This is another reason I don't think Nairn will ever get a bypass, the current road system can't even be maintained never mind building a new one!

Reported the A96 potholes to BEAR they have a webpage where you can report "defects"

Yes the railway brae does seem to be coming up again. We've said it before, given the narrow pavement and the volume of traffic that area is an unpleasant experience for pedestrians and if motorists have to concentrate even more on avoiding potholes rather than other road hazards then it becomes even more dangerous for both parties.
Perhaps Highland Council will do something there?

All these holes pose an immediate danger to cyclists as well. Hope the bike shop has a lot of wheels and tyres in store!

It's BEAR you want for the A96 It's no longer the responsibility of the Local Authority.
Fergus Ewing is in Nairn tomorrow and he's going to see them for himself, he's already sent a few e-mails to the high head yins responsible.
