secondly, we need more shops on nairn of a different kind, I.E clothes ect, more retail related insted of a bloody tea room or flats, nairn is going to crash and burn at this rate!
Well, personally I think Nairn is doing ok compared to some other places with quite a few empty shops. Take a walk round the centre of Inverness for example. We'll be sorted once Sainsbury's finally arrive.
It's free marketm so how can you stop someone opening a business? Surely it's better to see a shop being used rather than sitting empty? Folk in Nairn still seem to be able to afford a cup of tea and a bun so there must be a demand for it. Business is all about competition
I think its a disgrace this person hasnt even opened this shop yet and people are running the person down everybody deserves a chance to prove themselves and to show the respect they might well deserve good luck on your new project from Lord Ealan I wish you all the best
There was no running down of any individual m'lord, just a complaint about the number of similar establishments already. As others have said, there is obviously a market for such ventures in Nairn. The Gurn echoes his lordship's good wishes to the Whyte House
Good to see that The Gurn get comments from all walks of life, even a Lord, do you think we will get a statement from Mr Obama c/o the other White House.
As for the comment "this shouldn't be have been allowed" - How rediculous!! On what grounds exactly? Its attitudes like that from people who think they know it all which are making this town crash and burn and nothing else. Good luck to the Whyte House - the new shop is a welcome addition to the town centre.
surely to goodness having a smart, upmarket service for the public is a good thing for nairn. Or would the local people rather an empty boarded up premises to welcome tourists. A little bit of support from the locals to all new business i sure would be much appreciated by everyone trying to help nairn as best they can. Maybe all the people moaning about it could have come up with a better solution of theirown, no i very much doubt it ........
As the Gurn says, Nairn High Street isn't doing bad at all, particularly when compared to most other places, whether local or national.
We have a vacant shop level that is only 0.8%, as against a national average of approx 10%.
Spurtle's feedback is that people notice this , and it makes the town feel more vibrant ( even though some of the townsfolk don't see things this way).
I welcome the arrival of the Whyte House . It's been done properly , looks good & the owners' industry should be applauded & I wish them all the best in their new venture.
The Whyte House is a lovely addition to Nairn High Street. Just what we need nice shops and tidy premises. The food is great and service with a smile...well done !!
nairn did and still does not need another tea room/coffee shop, this shouldnt have been aloud, its not needed!
