Ive just heard a wee rumour that Whistling Bob Harris from The Old Grey Whistle Test will be there to introduce the band. Heres hoping they blow his ear drums off and every body has a good night of singing and dancing.
ReplyDeleteThe band were great at T in the Park from what I can remember
ReplyDeleteFond memories of the band who I saw in the early seventies at The Marquee Club in Wardour Street London with Jimmy on lead accordion man that boy could play,
ReplyDeletethe Solo on The Bluebell Polka blew my mind, like most bands they had there problems with abuse
drummer Eric was addicted to Salt & Vinegar crisps while original bassist Drew had a drink problem he downed 2 bottles of American Cream Soda neat a day, vocalist Keith had to have a daily fix of 6 Ashers butteries before he had the confidence to go on stage, keyboard player Mathew ran off with one of The Stones girlfriends to a hippy commune at Glenferness, & one of their roadies David is now known as Gertrude, but through thick & thin
the band is still in existence to
this day in the year 2011 with the
New Musical Express readers voting them Band of The Decade with Pink Floyd coming second.
Cant wait to see them at The Legion & looking forward to hearing the fans favourite yes you've guessed it " The Blue Bell
Polka"
Is it true they are going to be on the next X-Factor?
ReplyDeleteThe cielidh was a great success. Jimmy Urquhart's band had the dance floor bouncing and there some great local talent on show. The hall was packed and the Athletics Club raised over £500. Well done all.
