I know the answer.....Yes its knackered - no we cant afford to fix or replace it. Sorry we will have to close it, but you can still cross on the main road bridge.
That wouldn't do at all, this is the safest pedestrian/cyclist route in and out of the Fishertown for accessing the River Walks and the forthcoming cycling/walking route to Sainsbury's. Let's wait for the response that Liz gets before anybody gets too excited however.
It's often a very busy bridge with pedestrian traffic. I reckon Sainsbury's should have paid for traffic lights here with all the folk there will be using this route to get to their new store
Nairn town centre will be connected to Sainsburys via the A96. Let's start a Nairn campaign to close this footway, as it doesn't go or start anywhere in particular, and there is a perfectly sound bridge with two wide pavements just upstream. Cyclists shouldn't use it anyway, as it is only a footpath.
The local LibDem Councillor twitterpage has been quiet for over 7 weeks now. Perhaps it's just going to be another "lost in cyberspace" dead page - a bit like their Nairn needs a Bypass site?
This structure's main purpose is to carry sewage pipes across the river. In addition it has provided a means of crossing the river for pedestrians and cyclists. It provides people with a safe and more relaxing route to many place such as the river, the beach, Merryton, Broadhill etc and allows them to avoid having to use the road bridge. However, in its current state it would appear to be in a less than safe condition and seems to be getting worse by the day. It needs repair work carried out sooner rather than later. Can anyone confirm who actually owns it, there have been suggestions that it is Scottish Water?
Cyclists shouldn't be allowed to use it. They should stick to roads and keep of footpaths and stick to the Highway Code. This bridge is narrow enough to walk over, but cyclists race over harassing pedestrians. If there is such a concern for the safety of cyclists using a public highway as they are supposed to, rather than a footpath, then Highland Council should build a whole new separate bridge for them and them alone.

Maybe it should be just closed permanently. Afterall there is a whacking big bridge just a very short walk upstream.
This observer prefers the tranquility of the Sewage brigde as opposed to the 20,000 plus? vehicles a day bridge nearby.

Maybe Edinburgh or Glasgow could lend us a green MSP for an aftertoon to counter this rabid anti sewage bridge footpath movement?
Repair the sewer bridge and close the one that carries the A96.
That would solve so many problems and maybe get us a bypass as well, mind you, no chance of a Lib Dem bypass these days
Lib who? did I hear some folk say!
