Thanks to Colin for the Link to John Sutherland's video. John writes on his Youtube page.
"I was sitting at home in Auckland, New Zealand, feeling rather homesick, stumming away on my guitar, playing the Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen and it came upon to me to write a tune about Nairn (my hometown). So here it is!
This is a demo version, recorded in my bedroom played badly -- a diamond in the rough. However, I have plans...
...To have the whole thing re-recorded in Nairn, by Nairn folk. Making it a community effort to have a Nairn song to sing along to, to be used in the promotion of Nairn. "
More on the youtube page.

Dont give up the day job Mate its an embarrassment to the ears.
Excellent new anthem for us!
I think its a great wee song about the feelings people have when they are homesick, so many people will love it. Don't forget the big hit "Caledonia".
Can't be much going on in Auckland then!
I have to say on reflection that I preferred his Caledonia song
Yea all these songs sound the bloody same dont want to be unkind that was the last thing on my mind but the words & the tune are pure naff by the way think if John comes back to visit his home town of Nairn he will have to rewrite the lyrics as I think he will be sad when he sees the state of his home town, as a song writer myself I know its not the easyist thing to do to match the words with the music but I think if i may be on the critical side the song still needs a lot of work to be done to it.
If he loves it so much whats he doing in Auckland? and why is he singing with a Irish accent?
If you look up You Tube and tipe in The Albert Inn Billy Mcleod you will hear the best Gaelic singer from Nairn giving us one off his best songs ever
You cant beat The Ballads and Songs off Billy Mcleod. A true legend to the town. Thank You to Whistling Bob for letting us know.
This blog is about an anthem for Nairn .jeees there is probably only a couple of hundred gaelic speakers in Nairn(at a push).
But hey never mind that the rest of us could hum along!
