I don,t think the co-op will be lamenting for long. I was disappointed that the shopping was a bit pricey. Nice to have a change of shopping, but I don,t think I could afford to go every week, I hope I will be able to change my mind on that though, because I was so looking forward to Sainsburys coming to Nairn.
Well, on my visit to Sainsbury's, I did a comparision of prices with the Co-op (where I have to do most of my shopping) and they were slightly cheaper or mostly the same. All supermarkets carry offers which mean that some things are cheaper one week in one store than others and vice versa. I think any price comparisons with Sainsbury's should be with the Co-op first, and then additional petrol costs factored in when comparing with other stores such as Tesco's and Asda. The main thing for me, as someone who has no ready access to a car, is that I now have a better choice for my shopping.
I loved Sainsbury's when we were in Scotland last summer! So different from american supermarkets, or maybe it was just exotic because everything was in pounds and not dollars. Still, the food was great. We did a lot of our own cooking. The prices were better compared to our local market.
Was the piper playing that well known tune 'The Co-op lament'?
