I went to The Ballerina to see Fleetwood Mac by this time guitarists Peter Green & Jeremy Spencer had left the band & brought in new guitarist Bob Welch who was joined on stage by Danny Kirwan guitar,Christine McVie keyboards, her husband John McVie bass & Mick Fleetwood drums, it was a treat to watch such talented musicians play that Thursday night all for 90p what a bargain,& for the record after the gig they stayed at The Newton Hotel.
Danny Kirwan was so gifted and he never got as much credit as he deserved. His guitar still makes me weep. I was 18 when "Bare Trees" came out, and have since discovered "Future Games" and Peter Green's FM. Great music. I wish I'd known then...just as I wish I could have heard Runrig before I was 55. My favorite band ever.
