Laurie dusted off the old ermine and his fancy hat and got dressed up for the occasion, oh, yes he did! The Nairn Academy Choir, who were sporting a fantastic collection of hats, entertained the crowd with their unaccompanied rendition of 5 traditional Christmas Carols. The lights are on for another festive season.

Oh yes what a good idea! lets turn the lights off at Broadhill to save money, but wait a minute what bright spark decided to turn the christmas lights on a week earlier than usual!
Bahh ! HUMBUG
so the xmas lights are turned on for at least 6 weeks, and proposed lights to be turned off at broadhill, although this has been re thought,i also believe that sainsbury,s donated £250.000 for hight st,refurbishing, including enhanced lighting,e.g.a projected clock ,and better lighting etc,
who is responsible for distributing said money, and are they living in cloud cuckoo land, wanting to turn off street lights in one area, then brighten up town centre, must be lunatics running assylum here in nairn
naran.
Just checked back on the Gurn archives, last year the Christmas lights were switched on on the 26th November and the year before that on the 27th, so it's not a week earlier.
what a miserable sight Nairn is to anyone passing through on the A96, not even a bit of tinsel to be seen! Hardly makes people want to stop for a few christmas gifts from our eclectic shops does it!? Nairn really looks at its worst this time of year with its abandoned structures and dark damp nights.
"what a miserable sight Nairn is to anyone passing through on the A96"
thats cause you are on the bypass and not driving along the high street where you can enjoy the christmas lights
