After 163 years Swans are still using Brodie pond. Sadly The article dated 8th February almost certainly means that those pair of Swans were feeding on the seaweed at the Baths as they sometimes do today. They would have been just about ready to mate and nest. Thankfully our knowledge and appreciation of the natural world today, coupled with society's wealth, means we no longer have to kill such beauty purely to eat.

If only that statement was true Joe. Sadly the great majority of the population deems it necessary to eat beautiful animals everyday even though we enjoy such a choice of food that eating animals is no longer necessary
Those of us that really care about nature's creatures choose not to eat any of them, I wish others would follow suit
Touche' Plant eater. Sadly it will be a long slow process for humans to totally change - not only their eating habits but their so called killing for sport too !
So its ok to eat plants which are also a thing of great beauty but leave the animals alone no chance I would rather munch on a nice juicy steak than a dried docken leaf anyday!! waiter could I please have my steak well done, with mushrooms, chips, & onion rings please.
Millions of birds will end up on tables on Christmas Day while a few others will get a handful of breadcrumbs maybe delivered by folk still wearing the hats that came out of the crackers?
