Veto no threat to coalition says Danny

"The chief secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander, has said the EU veto does not threaten the coalition, defending the Conservatives' and Liberal Democrats' right to disagree over David Cameron's decision to block a new EU agreement."

So reports the Guardian. This observer suspects that the coalition falling to pieces would be the end of Danny's career as an MP. Surely, his prospects of retaining Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey, should there be a snap general election, would be fairly slim at the moment.

  1. I don't think there's much chance of a coalition split. The Lib Dems are too desperate to hang on to the fleeting taste of power that they sold their souls for. The Nasty Party well know it and are able to do whatever the hell they want as a result.
Danny will do very nicely in The City once he's booted out though (and I don't mean the city of Inversnecky).

Time for a snap election and the Tories would win hands down, with no coalition necessary. Danny's seat would be on a shoogly peg for sure and he would not get in. The Libs would get annihilated and Labour would also suffer. give Cameron his due, altough I do not like him, I like what he did and stood up to Sarkozy and his smug smile. I also dont trust the grinning Angela so we are better out of it all, and get rid of all the human rights crap that is messing up the courts and costing a fortune.

I'm in no doubt that Mr Alexander will lose his seat following the introduction of the proposed boundary changes anyway. Well said anon regarding the current situation in respect of human rights, could'nt agree more, the worlds going mad.

The mind boggles at what the above commenters must understand by human rights, having read some concocted yarn in the Daily Mail and paid passing heed to the latest utterances of the Scottish Justice Minister.

How about the right to post your views - no matter how ridiculous -anonymously on the internet without fear of the police battering your door down?

People who spout this kind of thoughtless nonsense deserve to live in Belarus for a year so they can really decide whether human rights are worth anything to them.
