The Gurn understands from unreliable sources close to NRCC that work is to start soon on replacing 120 meters of sewer pipe in the area where there have been complaints in recent years of sewage spilling onto the paths on both sides of the bridge in times of heavy rainfall. The Gurn understands that householders in the area have been delivered a letter from Scottish Water explaining the nature of the work and how it will proceed. Well done Tommy Hogg and his fellow councillors for campaigning to get this part of the riverside sorted! Most gurnites will know the sewer pipe runs under the triangular coping stones to the aptly named sewage bridge. River CC will also soon start their own project to improve the ecology on the other side of the river - a project that has been secured with European Leader funding.
