Couldn't make it to the hustings in the United Reformed Church on Wednesday night? Here's a chance to see what you make of the candidates if you missed out on the best show in town this week (7 out of 8 of them were there - the Tory wifie couldn'd make it). This post contains the first of a series of videos. Hopefully we'll be able to show you the entire hustings on a question by question basis over the next few days. Maybe these videos will help you to make your mind up if undecided or maybe even change your preferences for the ballot box.

Question 1 Feral kids in the High Street?
Question 2 Food parcels and Highland Council wasting money?
Questions 3 and 4 Candidates' membership of organisations and political parties?
What an eye opener. Another meeting precluded me from attending the hustings so many thanks for the videos Gurn folk.
ReplyDeleteWho would get my my vote after watching the meeting thus far, none of them, I heard much better speakers at school debates with more reasoned thinking.
I can only say that next time candidates (if there is one) really try and think before opening your mouths. If you have nothing to say don't waffle, say "I'd need to think about that one", at least them you would be seen as honest rather than daft!
There is more to come, perhaps you might want to reconsider when you see some more debate?
ReplyDeleteColin Macaulay - a cure for insomnia!
ReplyDeleteThat's a bit harsh Anon but it is opinion so we'll take it.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know much about Ritchie but he certainly comes across best. Head and sholders above the rest!
ReplyDeleteThought for the day....Why is it that everyone who seeks power, is the least worthy to receive it, when those who could do the greatest good by having that power do not want it.
ReplyDeleteIt would be worth waiting for the rest of the videos before making a decision on who performed best at the hustings.
ReplyDeleteHopefully we will have more up by the end of the weekend.
The SNP performed so badly at the hustings, it is rumoured that this is why you haven't posted the rest of the footage. We all know that the Nairnshire telegraph and the Gurn are pro SNP! Do not try and cloud our judgement, just post the footage as promised! I honestly hope that everyone who is anti SNP will come out and vote on Thursday!
ReplyDeleteHa, Ha! A conspiracy theory emerges! The Gurn has clouded the collective judgement of the people of Nairnshire?
ReplyDeleteYou will perhaps notice content from all the candidates on the Gurn during this election (apart from the Tory wifie and we have asked twice). Maybe we've been fair maybe we haven't, please remember that we don't have to be ;-)
Hate to burst your conspiracy bubble but there has been a delay in getting the rest of the footage up because of a more mundane reason - a dead hard drive. Back ups saved of course and back in action now after digging out an old laptop etc. Trying to do something on a pal's mac wasn't possible either for technical reasons. That and work commitments all added to the delay.
The vids are being edited at this very moment and will be uploaded this evening, you'll find another three on the Gurn you tube pages if you are really that excited by it all. Watch this space!
Did no one notice the lights of the church on this evening? I t was the Gurn filming a remake of the hustings with a script written by Iain Bain. The church was packed with SNP supports who hung on every word of both Liz and Colin and clapped and cheered at appropriate moments
ReplyDeleteI understand this new footage will go on line soon
Nairn twinned with Twin Peaks?
ReplyDeletegreat stuff says this Nairn exile - can't wait for episode two...
ReplyDeleteStephen Manders for Mayor!
Nor sure about him being Mayor, but at least you can hear what he's saying rather than the distant mumble that some councillors resort to! Being too shy to speak in public is not I would suggest a winning attribute
