Big Yellow Taxi (Office)

You can't miss the Taxi 24/7 office after the makeover. Regular Gurnite Shaun wrote in, the new colour scheme got him thinking.

"Hi Gurn, is it just me that has raised an eyebrow at the newly painted day-glo yellow taxi office in the High St, it brought to mind the Joni Mitchell song Big Yellow Taxi, you know the one about paving paradise to put up a parking lot. A lot of stuff in that song is quite pertinent to the current goings on  in the town centre. A 25 year wait to end up with about 25 parking spaces, thanks Nairn and Highland Council's visionary stuff."

Really, I think most folk will be a bit more chilled about it really.
Personally I think the phone box outside the Royal Bank that doubles up as an advertising hording is just about the only eyesore on the High Street.

Is it definitely going to be given up for parking?....I thought it was to be sold on.

As far as this observer is aware, the Highland Council policy (of the last administration) is to develop the old Community Centre site but others in Nairn would like to see it kept for parking.

If you closely at the 'new' paint scheme on the new taxi office, you will see that the wall at the side, in Falconers Lane, has been painted a less acid tone of yellow. Positively almost mustard..ish, certainly less of a jaw dropping choice, compared to the front of the building.

I was told on Saturday that the front is to be repainted the slightly more muted colour.
