Inverurie's Poundland pictured above. Wouldn't one like that look just perfect over at the Bus Station? Does Nairn need a Poundland? Poll over in the Gurn sidebar.
Speaking of the Bus Station, the polemic continues, demonstrating faultlines in the community on what should be done with site. If you haven't read the comments yet (there's over 30 of them now) you can do so on this article here.

Hmm... I'm not too keen as on my visits to the store I tend to spend a lot more than £1 on crap that I don't really need (can't resist a bargain!)
What I'd really like to see in Nairn is a weekly market selling local veg and other produce please
Yes a weekly market - the Gurn has called for that often enough. It would be so good for the town.
POUNDLAND!! we are not made of money in Nairn you know!
Nairn is more of a Nickel and Dime sort of place
yes nickel and dime
How about adapted 'Homes for Heroes' on the bus station site
This could be the start of a very long wish list, although I have to say Poundland wouldn't be on mine.
Inverness has a skating rink - why not Nairn?
Fochabers has a by pass - why not Nairn?
London has the Olympics - why not Nairn?
Eric has a red tie - why not Nairn?
Portugal has sunshine - why not Nairn?
Folk in Forres are happy - why not Nairn?
Who says folk in Nairn aren't happy?
What a bunch of snobs. I would be glad of a Poundland coming to Nairn or better still Home Bargains. Nickel and Dime are not that cheap!
i would love to see a pound land open up in nairn but sadly this will never ever happen unless it has a hairdresser's and coffee shop inside of it too.
You could open a shop in Nairn that gave away fivers and some folk would still gurn about it! 'Why can't they give away tenners' etc

...Poundland has delivered a major coup by appointing former Tesco finance director Andrew Higginson as its non-executive chairman, taking the business a step closer to a possible stock market listing...

Well their business model seems to be profitable
Yes, they give them away in Inverness. Typical Highland Council with their centric policy and Nairn losing out as a result.
I demand that Nairn has its own Local Authority like Inverness, so we can then justifiably moan about a true Nairn council.
I remember in the Olden Days when Nairn did have a council, life was infinitely better, the council actually gave away £20 notes to all and we all wore our rose tinted spectacles with pride!
