Bit of overkill isn’t. All these barriers just to daub a wee bittie paint on the brig railings. Years ago Jim Scott, the toon cooncil painter would have been up there on his bike wi’ a wire brush and paint. Job done in two days.
great to this is being done at long last, well over due hope the high street get's some paint as well before the summer time, and the roof gardens get a shift.
As I understand it, the bridge is a listed building, and long overdue a repainting. The railings however contain old lead paint that has to be contained, hence the tenting and time to do it properly. My fear is, because it's a listed building the new paint will be grey to match the original. We'll have to see what the finish is like.
I agree wholeheartedly agree Growtosow. It should not be beyond the wit of man to get a cherry picker organised to go the length of the High Street and clear the rooftops of weeds within a couple of days. Many businesses are struggling and the appearance of the town centre to the economy is important. Well done to Mosh for what he has done to the frontage at the Bay of Bengal. Some support to shotblast the stonework above would enhance that beautiful building. But oh I forgot – we are talking about Highland Council – seldom an original thought like that comes out of Glenurquhart road – especially God forbid if its going to cost a little cash. Best value for money is the council motto. They have’nt a scooby when you see the cash they have frittered away. Simple projects like this which should be affordable and have great community benefit should have been undertaken years ago.
I hope they're painting the railings in a colour that the swans can easily recognise as I understand that's why the work is being undertaken?
