Estimates tonight of well over a thousand people in the High Kirk to meet Bjorn the Bear. Led by pipers the crowds marched up the street after the switch-on of the Christmas lights down at the Courthouse. An absolutely magical night for the bairns and the older generations present too. Well done Michael Green and all those who helped make the special night possible More pictuers later.
The ceremony for the xmas light switch on went well, but the same unfortunately couldn't be said about the access available to parents with buggies when trying to enter St Ninians church. Once entering the church all persons were being directed upstairs?? was this thought process from the Organisers a suitable option for parents with pushchairs?? Obviously not as many parents were left standing on the street with buggies??
ReplyDeleteand well done to Bjorn and his handler for providing a little bit of magic for all the kids (of all ages). From the looks on some of the kids faces I'm sure many of them will remember Bjorn for a long time.
ReplyDeleteI get a bit scared now when I see Mike the Bike as to what hair brained scheme he's going to come up with next. Polar bear sanctuary for Nairn?
ReplyDeleteOnly a few days after a certain bus leaves town and the Church is already full of Bjorn-again followers?
ReplyDeleteDon't worry too much about Mike the Bike, there's not much hair left on his brain for new schemes!
ReplyDeleteA lovely bit of magic on a festive evening ....very entertaining I loved Bjorn! x
ReplyDeleteHad a lovely evening and my young children loved seeing the polar bear. Disappointed that once inside the church there was a lack of organisation and due to far too many boisterous teenagers could hardly hear the choir sing.
ReplyDeleteGood evening but sound quality was very poor. Despite being close to the stage outside the town house I could not hear what was being said. Loved the Polar Bear though.
ReplyDeleteNot a well thought, out evening.poor access for disabled people and parents with prams.was hard to get in and out of the place.events like this should be outside.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but some of the people who post on this blog is ridiculous! I am we'll aware that this is a free for all blog but come on. It seems that anyone who inspires change, be shot down! As somebody previously said, Nairn is stuck in the dark ages with the book and arts festival being hailed as a must on Nairns "to do" calendar. Finally someone comes along and airs ideas and try's to initiate change and has become a public enemy! It's very easy to sit and mock rather than standing up and being counted. I was there last night and by the looks of it, they didn't realise they would get the numbers they did! 1000 people braved the cold on a Monday night and came down to pay tribute to a night put on by a very thoughtfull few. If people put the same energy into how next years event could be improved rather than leaving the event without a name, we wouldn't need a council to run things!!
