The BBC reports: "A £1m fund allowing Highland
communities to take over the running of some council services has been launched
by the local authority.
Highland Council
wants to see whether local groups can provide services themselves for a cheaper
cost, as the authority seeks to make savings." More here.
Just imagine, what if
River, West, Suburban and the other Nairnshire Community Councils put in a joint
bid to run the whole lot (or at least most of it - sort of Devolution Max for
Nairnshire)? The bid could be called Nairn District Council or something like
that - you never know it might work.
