Forres 0 - Nairn 1 - Wonder saves from Calum keep the points for Nairn

The faithful gathered on the west brae of Mosset Park behind the supporters' flag. A well-humoured mix of regulars from the hill and the cowshed contingent. There were also a sprinkling of wee County fans in other parts of the ground and a fair few in the stand too. It is good to see some of the new faces from the start of the season going to away games too now. It's all evidence of the momentum that is building up as we move, into what is only just now for the County, the second half of the season. It will be a busy half too with many midweek games to complete in order to catch up. 

County showed a lot of their characteristic attacking flair in the first half. Forres had chances too but they looked a shawdow of the team that comprehensively dealt with Formartine last week. For the fans it was the usual routine of nervously willing one of the Nairn moves into the net, with hardly the time to contemplate how Forres managed to miraculously keep the ball out of the net before the next attacking move began. Gregg Main's drive in the 36 minute found the net after a deflection and the joy on the terraces was released. County were on track.

The second half was to be very worrying though as Forres came back into the game and seemed to win every long ball cleared from their half and anything we tried to put up their way. There were some County breakouts but they were quickly closed down. It is a measure of how far the Wee County have come that we can afford to indulge in soul-searching about a change in tempo but the travelling support began to become very anxious as Forres stabilised and found their form. The game was punctuated by some harsh tackles on Nairn players but this probably aided us more with the intervals produced as assitance was offered to knocks. Towards the end of the game Calum made a succesion of marvellous saves that preserved a result that gave us three valuable points. Sweet points indeed as news filtered through that Wick had gone done 5-0 to Brora.
