once again,the parking places in high street are blocked off,even disabled bays,just for runners,its not on,we pay out road tax,let the dafties that want to run,do it up the river,and leave parking places free for motorists
Agree with 8:04, these races should start and finish on the outskirts of town, well away from traffic.
And the London Marathon? About time they shifted that to Dartmoor. And that big one in New York? Put it in the Appalachians. And see that Monaco Grand Prix? Can they not have that on Nairn East Beach after the megabikes are finished? :-))
Should be more of this!
The run brought a few hundred people to Nairn and all seemed to have a good time.
If you think this was bad just wait till Mike the Bike brings many thousands of bikers to the town for his mash up the beach motorbike fest
Perhaps some of them even spent some money?
Anon 9:36, the London and New York marathons don't have traffic on the race routes at the same time as the runners.
Its only once a year and the road was shut for a max of 2hrs to allow over 500 people take part in the event,add that number to the amount of spectators and you have one of the biggest events on the Nairn calendar. But as usual its the usual "not in my back yard attitude" from the Nairn branch of the apathy group. Get a grip.
Have to agree anon4.59. Great to see the High Street full of life and colour. All power to the 10K and fun run.
I would like to point out that the disabled bays were not blocked off, there were clear advanced notice of the road closures. It would be nice to close the whole course to traffic but could you imagine the comments if that was done. There are 100's of parking spaces available in Nairn that might, for once, require you to just have to walk a few more yards to the shop - I swear some people would take their car to go to the toilet if they could.
