A preview of the Playhouse facilities today for the High Street business community, local meejah worthies and local representitives. Seen among the notables out clubbing until after two o'clock were River CC's Jeanne Tolmie and Tommy Hogg.
Peter Moore told the Gurn it had all been four years in the making and he was feeling shattered but looking forward to opening the doors to the 340 capacity venue officially tomorrow night. Myles Leith said that there would also be different genres of music during the week and sports of course on the big screen. Those enjoying the new venue earlier today were entertained by local singer/song writer Jemma Tweedie. Ian Gordon was his usual self and dispensing hospitality and sharp wit in equal measure.
You still get a bit of the cinema feel about the place and Jeanne Tolmie told the Gurn that her and eight of her frends went to see the last ever movie shown in the building. That was "Paint your Wagon" and might have been in 1968 but was the subject of debate. Following that, for many years this building was the Nairn County Social Club but now it has a new lease of life as Nairn's newest licensed premises.
