Fred Holmes of the River CC asked Liz last Wednesday if there had been any progress on the proposed new cemetery on Granny Barbour's Road. She replied:
"There have been several test holes done there and as far as I'm aware they've all passed and they're trying to negotiate the price with the land owner just now."

Given that the topic in question is the building of a new cemetry, I sincerely hope the outgoing Provost's new role comes with better speech writer.......
It is a requirement of establishing a Cemetery spurtle. Literally holes with measuring equipment in them to determine presumably the like of water retention in the ground. They could be seen from the road. Not a case of somebody having a grave digging practice in that sense etc.
Test holes are fair enough. It could be bedrock just 2 foot down and then we'd have shallow graves!
Should the council not try and negotiate for more land now that they've passed the planning for the Nairn south development
