Murd Dunbar sends us this image of an object that appeared on Mill Road today. Do any Gurnites have any suggestions as to what it might be?
UPDATE: Allan tells the Gurn:
@GurnNurn I've seen them here in the states; they normally have cables attached to them along the road surface and they count passing cars.

Thanks for that Allan and a quick google shows a similar image on this web page.
UPDATE - Stephen Fuller spots another mystery box in George Street.

Had one on Lodgehill Road back in January.
A road usage counter for vehicles, to monitor usage and consider money for future repair works, or a slow down sign :-)
Compared to the picture of the one in the USA ours seems to be into bondage.
Nesting box for squirrels?
its murds piece box
My days of piece boxes are long gone
the only PEACE I require is to get the mess on the railway brae sorted. Have also heard possibly they are monitoring traffic so they can use Millroad and Queens parka alternative access to and from Nairn South
There is another one on George Street!
well murd, they were voted in,,we should tell them, they can be voted out too
The attached link would suggest that they are radar pods for measuring average traffic speed. Not speed traps as such.
