I still haven't found a steak supper anywhere as good as the Altonburn served.

Terrible waste of resources, why are materials not salvaged from buildings like this to be reused? As householders we're asked to recycle so why not commercial operations like this?

I think this is such a shame to see a building to which had a lot of history not just as a hotel famous for steak suppers but also as a boys school . I think this building should not off been demolished as there was nothing wrong with the the original building . It just need some TLC .why did the Golf club not purchase as it would of been a lovely place for people to come from all over to come visit Nairn & play golf also.

@anon 8.01 When the old Community Centre came down a lot of material was sorted as the demolition moved on. If it is commercially viable it will probably happen.

Maybe the mannie at Rosebank Church should get down there and rescue the slates.

I do Not understand why !! ?? Is this hotel been allowed to be knocked down should it not be a listed property has been on go since 1905 it's such a shame an historical building .

Unfortunately it's just a commercial reality that allot of these older buildings cost more to renovate, to bring them up to present building standards, than their actual value

does anyone know what happened to the contents of the hotel? there was a photograph in the hotel lobby of my (now deceased) father in his school days circa 1930. i saw it before the hotel closed but i'd love to see it again
