Tuesday saw the approval of the revised masterplan for the Springfield Properties site on Lochloy Road by the South Highland Planning Committee in Glenurquhart Road. There is a webcast recording on the Highland Council site should anyone wish to watch that agenda item in its entirety.
As is normal in these affairs several councillors that live in other parts of the Highlands gave their views on a Nairn issue. Among those who spoke was LibDem high heid yin Thomas Prag. He was very forthright about Lochloy road, this is what he had to say:
“I’ve used that road quite a lot, I’ve never ever had a problem with traffic there, so if traffic experts say it will be all right I’m inclined to believe that but we’ll keep an eye on it of course.”
More from the Lochloy approval debate soon.
What planet is he on
ReplyDeleteSwitch the traffic lights off at Lochloy and the rest of the people travelling in Nairn won't have a problem with traffic on Lochloy Road.
ReplyDeleteDear oh dear! Yet another vacuous comment from a councillor whose view of reality flies in the face of everyday experience. In fact, this is complete nonsense and he quietly reassures his Highland Council colleagues that there isn't a problem. Let's be blunt, and I'm sorry I have to say it - he hasn't a clue. There are traffic issues everyday on this road; there are tailbacks; frustrated motorists try to avoid the town. No everyday user of this road will recognise Mr Prags viewpoint. He dismisses a major issue that has been a problem for years by saying, "let's keep an eye on it". That's code for let's continue to ignore it and hope it goes away.
ReplyDeleteMight we expect our own councillors to distance themselves from such ignorant comments? Or could it be that they too live in the same parallel universe as Mr Prag? We really do deserve better.
Sums up in a nutshell the situation with Highland Council now, where these clowns who are not elected in Nairn get to control what happens here.
ReplyDeleteTime for another consultation I think.
In answer to Anonymous he is on planet ignore it and it might go away.(The councillor planet) I agree with ak-a switch the lights off at Lochloy for a week, because that is what is causing all the problems, and lets see what happens.
ReplyDeleteThis man lives in cloud cuckoo land. Lights off at Lochloy and problem goes away right enough, apart from the Lochloy residents. The real solution is to allow Lochloy 30 seconds every 4 minutes and the problem will go away. Surely this is not beyond the techy experts to try this out? Another 180 houses up there though and more cars than ever coming out. Councillors as usual lightweight with their responses.
ReplyDelete@anon re libdem postion - is that on line anywhere?
ReplyDeleteThe real solution is to put a bridge over the railway and connect to the Sainsbury roundabout so that there are two routes into the Lochloy estate from the A96. Then replace the lights with another roundabout.
ReplyDeleteHowever I suspect that this isn't an approach that the transport authorities wish to hear.
I can not believe the comments made by Mr Prag- unbelievable !!!! He needs to come to Nairn on any day of the week and sit in the non moving traffic every single day. I counted last Sunday how many seconds the Lochloy Road traffic lights changed, it went from 6 seconds to 4 seconds!!!!
ReplyDeleteCllr pragg has plenty diesel to waste sitting at lights as he probably gets his fuel on expenses
ReplyDeletevote him out next election,we can do without the likes of him saying there isn't a problem,,does he need to go to specsavers?
narook.
Nairn councillors are all like bedding plants, they usually manage a display but don't produce anything. 'Don't rock the boat baby'
ReplyDeletenarook - the problem is, we don't get a vote on the like of Prag, he's another Inverness councillor telling Nairn what's good for it.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder there is so much apathy towards councils\councillors\politicians and so forth, absolutely do not live on planet earth.
ReplyDeleteI’d love to build a road at the end of their drive, stick some ill thought out traffic lights up and then watch them dice with 40 foot lorries laden with logs (and other vehicles) skip red lights!
Oh and while we are at, agree planning permission for 200 new homes on the back of their land
Scooby doo? ;-)
