The Gurn has seen a copy of a letter from the DPEA case officer which states that the hearing session will take place on Monday 9, Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 June at 10:00 am within Nairn Community & Arts Centre.
Things seem to have got a lot more complicated recently for those objectors who will be participating at the hearing. An annex to the letter states:
Matters to be considered at hearing session
· Matter 1: The impact of the proposed development on the strategic and local road network, including details of the effect on road and pedestrian safety and the ability of roads, junctions, footways and the railway underpass to accommodate the development. Particular reference should be made to the analysis and conclusions contained in the appellants’ original Transport Assessment (2011) (WSP) as updated and amended by Transport Technical Note (2014) (APP/PN/1/1/1) lodged by the appellants on 4 April 2014.** The Reporter also wishes views on whether the proposed development’s road and infrastructure provisions meet the phasing requirements contained in the Council’s Strategic Masterplan – Phases 1 & 2 Nairn South.
** A table, submitted by the appellants on 28 April 2014, is attached cross-referencing the updates and amendments contained in APP/PN/1/1/1.
Quite a lot for the objectors (which include the town's three community councils and the Residents' Concern Group to think about there. Central to it all still seems to be the pinch-point of the Cawdor Road Bridge and the dangerous pavements in that area. This observer was in conversation with one of the participants in the inquiry and our correspondent tells us that the they feel that the mention of infrastructure by the reporter is highly significant and worthy of some examination.

I'm in favour of this development.
