Highland Council are looking for your thoughts about what to cut in the future. The Budget Leader's blog asks: "Can we provide some services less, some less frequently or stop providing some altogether?" The blog gives other examples about what might be cut - more here.
Cuts just keep coming round again and again: here's a post from May 2010 and then there was the meeting by the new administration in September 2012.

whatever happened to taking pride in workmanship?
the council,or tec services have done a brilliant job
scraping off all weeds around the walls in every street in queenspark,
that is,except Michael street, also, workmen strimmed 1foot of grass around edges 2 weeks ago,but forgot to come back and cut the rest, the grass area opposite hospital has been cut twice in last 2 weeks, but looks as if Michael street is off limits,do we,the residents not count?or is this council cut backs?or rather,,not cut backs,

How about we start with our four councillors?
Annual income £1.00
Annual expenditure £1.20
Result Disaster
Annual income £1.00
Annual expenditure 95 pence
Result Happiness
Councillors seem to be getting paid for attending any silly wee meeting and they all jump on the bandwagon. Stop this immediately. The council tax has been frozen for many years now and needs to increase. Also make pensioners pay for their bus pass say a pound per trip. No cut backs on bin collections as its bad enough now. In USA, one man collects the bins while here there are 3 at least on each lorry.
Generally Councillors get a flat rate salary regardless of the number of meetings anon.
Indeed, but I know that two of ours get thousands of pounds extra for sitting on two other committees
for chairing and vice chairing one other committee each respectively I think you mean to say anon. That information is in the public domain yes.
Anon at 2.43
I think that you are mistaken.
According to the annual report of councillors allowances and expenses Liz MacDonald does receive additional Salary but Colin MacAulay does not. Hopefully that clears it up for you anon.
