Nairn County Cricket Club Remembers Former Players Who Served in the First World War

Recently uncovered Nairn County Cricket Club Minute Books from 1914 and 1919 reveal the names of former members of the club who served in the First World War. One member of the Cricket Club, with a keen interest in the Great War, has set up a ‘Nairn County Cricket Club Community’ within the Imperial War Museum web site ‘Lives of the First World War’. Extracts from the Club Minute Books have been uploaded as part of the evidence for remembering the former players of the cricket club who served in the Great War and can be seen at https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/community/717 .

A remembrance page has also been added to the Nairn County Cricket Club website ( http://www.nairncricket.co.uk/FirstWorldWar.php ) providing the full list of former players who served in the First World War. The former players who made the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives are listed below.

The Imperial War Museum Lives of the First World War web site is open for anyone to register. Nairn County Cricket Club urges others with any connection with the former players to join with them and remember all of those who served in the First World War. Anyone with memorabilia or stories connected with the cricket club should contact the club via the contact list available on the club web site.
