Badly needed resurfacing work finally went ahead at the
Lochloy junction on the A96 this weekend and according to official information this was scheduled for overnight operation, so what then is causing tailbacks as far as Delnies on
the western approach to the town? Many frustrated drivers looked for other ways
into town. This meant very busy traffic at the railway bridge on the Cawdor
Road. Downpours also caused the usual floods at this busy pinch point. The
dangerous spot was a key factor in the South Nairn planning appeal and the
objectors focused on the amount of traffic and potential dangers here. Whether
South Nairn goes ahead or not it looks like there is still a major problem with
flooding under the bridge and that will have to be tackled sooner rather than later.
The Scottish
Government’s DPEA appeals department set a target date of August 16th
for determining the appeal so perhaps we will know the result next week?
No sign of resurfacing taking place during the worst of the gridlock today, nor Thursday , when it was even worse.....
ReplyDeleteLikely that the traffic light pixies have been doing there stuff again & perhaps we are seeing the consequences of the gradual development of the Lochloy Road ends retail complex.
Folk trying to get into the car park there, to avail themselves of an underground butty, are doing nothing to improve the already horrendous traffic situation...
It's a pity that those responsible for rubber stamping planning applications don't seem capable of joining the dots for long enough to discover that the picture being revealed is of sh*t, hitting a fan.....
Chill Spurtle, a bypass is coming, "Don't worry about a thing, 'Cause every little thing gonna be all right"
ReplyDeleteAye right....
ReplyDelete& I bet those three little birds are bloody seagulls.... :)
I thought the resurfacing work was supposed to be done after 6pm?
ReplyDeleteYes anon and Spurtle, we assumed initially that the delays must have been caused by roadworks but when we went for a look the roadway was clear apart from a few cones on the pavement. A BEAR fan was parked in the Lochloy co-op car park however. It must just have been the lights again then?
ReplyDeleteget rid of lochloy lights and install a roundabout,i,m sure it would alleviate the problem
