This is due to unforeseen staff shortages. NHS Highland apologise for any inconvenience caused.

It may just be 12 hours shut, but a Saturday night can be a busy time...
ReplyDeleteNothing short of a scandal. I am shocked and disgusted.

NHS shut down on a busy saturday night is appalling. Hope we manage over this disaster and nobody comes to any harm because of it.
ReplyDelete@ anon - the exact nature of the staff shortage and responsibility etc will no doubt emerge later.
ReplyDeleteLets see what our councillors do about this.... Time to earn your title and votes! Ridiculous situation... They cant even get 1-2 people on!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, my daughter is ill.... But of course I fully understand that the lack of organisation by our local NHS management means I should take her to Inverness.......
(Hopefully the sarcasm is obvious!)
The worst scenario would have been someone rushing to the hospital in desperate need of treatment only to find the A&E department shut
ReplyDeleteShould potential patients now ring around Accident and Emergency departments before heading to them to check which one is open
The NHS is crumbling fast, we're in a huge overspend in the Highlands, partly because we cannot attract full time staff, but also because some staff are only being offered contracts of just a few months. Not quite zero hours but how do you build a life not knowing where in the country yo might next get a job?
A lot more bad practices need to be exposed and then fixed in the NHS
I see on Twitter that it's closed again tonight (Sunday) A&E at Nairn T&C closed again from 20:30 Sunday (26th) evening through to Monday (27th) morning at 08.30. Phone NHS 24 or go to Raigmore A&E.
ReplyDeleteIf it's a real (ie, life threatening) emergency get an ambulance, they probably have the skills and equipment available that is not there in Nairn A&E.
They managed pretty well to keep the A&E open in the old hospital, with far less staff !
ReplyDeleteA damn disgrace in this day and age
