One proposal on the consultation was to never grit "others" wasn't it?
Not sure Anon, perhaps others out there might have an idea on that.
Seem to be getting a bit stingy with the gritting.
Rock salt needs vehicles to drive over it for it to work effectively. Vehicles grind the salt into smaller particles to spread it across the road - this means that grit is sometimes not effective when there isn't much traffic. It is suggested that gritting roads that only have minimal traffic is a waste of scarce resources.
