"Police in Nairn have recently received an increase in complaints regarding illegal or inconsiderate parking in and around the Nairn town centre area.
Police Scotland would like to remind motorists to ensure that when parking their vehicle, they avoid obstructing carriageways, footpaths or pedestrian crossings and that they comply with the requirements of the Road traffic Regulation Act 1984. Parking violations can carry a £30 non-endorseable fixed penalty fine.
Police Scotland are committed to keeping people safe and promoting road safety awareness and, together with our Traffic Warden colleagues and other partner agencies, have commenced an operation to tackle these issues through a period of education and enforcement.
Police and partners will also proactively engage with the various businesses and retailers in Nairn to ensure that, where possible, deliveries are made so as to reduce any unnecessary obstruction or congestion.
Residents are encouraged to promptly report any parking issues to the local authority or to Police on 101 if instances of dangerous or obstructive parking should occur."

lots of people parking in disabled bays and do not have a blue badge, which is despicable.
Bad enough to be disabled but we also have to pay to have the badge.

What traffic wardens, were they not all payed off last year?
Police should issue instant tickets to offenders,disabled people pay for blue badges,and others can park free,and still use disabled bays just to park nearer shop.
High time council employed a traffic warden,cut a few quid off each councillers wages to pay for them
why not if you see someone illegally parked, especially in a disabled space , snap a photo ( most folk with a mobile phone have an inbuilt camera) and give it straight to the police, if folk new that was going on i guarantee the numbers would fall

Not sure that is very safe advice or an action that the police would advocate as there is the possibility of confrontation if the owner of the vehicle sees someone taking a photo of their car
If we have parking restrictions and laws covering them, then surely we should employ sufficient people to enforce them rather than encouraging citizens to effectively take the law into their own hands?

That is a direct quote from linked scot gov page, as it says UP TO. Perhaps if you had read a bit further you would have seen that. What a shame you did not post the quote to remind people of the possible fine, which may make non badge holders think twice....

Apologies Nenano, you are absolutely correct. A £1,000 fine is possible for anyone in a blue badge bay.
You would only have to do that once to put an end to it in Nairn!
The police can't do everything when it comes to parking but it is time for action from them to protect the rights of the disabled in Nairn. What is the point of parking protection for the disabled if it is not enforced!!!

What are the best contact details for reporting "illegal" parking or certainly vehicles parking on and blocking pavements?
Don't worry lots of tickets issued apparently after surprise visit by a couple of yellow perils.

heard differing takes on this - pavement parking may be a grey area. If it isn't though anyone does it at their own risk with traffic wardens back on the scene.
To be fair to shopkeepers and delivery drivers there is a school of thought that they often they have no choice but to park with some of their vehicle on the pavement given the design of the streetscape.
