The Gurn understands that local SNP party members have chosen Stephen Fuller to contest the vacant seat in the byelection that will take place on May 7th (the same day as the General Election). The former Millbank Primary and Nairn Academy pupil will perhaps already be a familiar face on the doorsteps to many Gurnites who have seen him out and about on recent evenings or weekends canvassing for the SNP Parliamentary candidate Drew Hendry.
I am delighted to announce that I will be standing as SNP candidate for the Nairn By-Election. https://t.co/SiuS0SfyKK

Are you able to tell us anything about him Gurn, what he does for a living, how old he is etc. I think we know enough about Ritchie Cunningham as he has been out canvassing for a while now and he regularly expresses his view in the Nairnshire. But to give Mr Fuller a fair crack of the whip we need to know about him and his background before we can reasonably vote for him or do the SNP seriously think because the area is a strong SNP heartland that it doesn't matter who they put up, people will vote for him. I hope they don't think this!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there will be a lot more info in a very short time Neil, the SNP have only just made their mind up today as to who is standing.
ReplyDeleteYou can always ask him yourself if you like of course - I've just updated the post to include the latest from his twitter account.
Stephen will be a great young and energetic Councillor - very able to represent all of the people of Nairn - not just those with West End loud voices but more importantly, those with less of a public voice. I'm sure Neil will be able to read all about him on the Gurn and in next week's Nairnshire.
ReplyDeleteEvery SNP member in Nairn had the opportunity to determine their candidate by electronic ballot. I'm presuming that the LD's just stood their last remaining Member? :-)
Just a wee reminder that the election hasn't taken place yet! Ritchie, Stephen and anyone else who has put themselves forwards still have to be voted in.
ReplyDeleteWas it oor Ritchie Cunningham that was in "Happy Days"? Was the Gurn "The Fonz"?
ReplyDeleteRitchie Cunningham, did he no stand as an Independent at the last council election? I don't recall him being a regular contributor to the Nairnshire, maybe once in a blue moon or when there's an election coming up? :)
ReplyDeleteRitchie Cunningham. Was there not a bit of a hum about him a while ago?
ReplyDeleteNo wait, he wanted to remove ships from the sea!
