Nairn Healthcare welcomed a new Practice Nurse, Kathryn Henderson, on 6th April. Kathryn is available to do asthma checks, diabetic checks and general nursing procedures such as smear tests and ear syringing.

We will also be
welcoming back Dr Alison Browning from maternity leave this month. She will be
available from 30th April.
Step Count Challenge Update
The twenty Nairn Healthcare members of
staff have now been upping their steps for five weeks. We are more than halfway
through our challenge. So far, our step count stands at 7,598,098 steps, the
equivalent of 3,800 miles. This is a fantastic effort and we look forward to
seeing our final total in three weeks time.
Positive Moves
Prostate Cancer UK , NHS
Highland and Highlife Highland have teamed up to create a new physical exercise
programme for men diagnosed with prostate cancer. Regular exercise aids
recovery by increasing physical stamina, reducing tiredness and improving
quality of life.
Positive Moves will
give free access to the local leisure facility for up to 12 months for you and
your partner or family member, up to three FREE 1 to 1 sessions with local
leisure staff; induction to gym equipment and other services and a tour of the
facilities with friendly, welcoming staff.
Nairn Healthcare
has already sent out letters of invitations to certain patients who qualify for
this worthwhile programme.

Etape Loch Ness
Dr Jonathan Ball, Dr
Adrian Baker and Dr Audrey Banks took part in a 66 mile cycle around iconic
Loch Ness on Sunday 26th April. This was a 360° closed-road route
which witnessed them leaving Inverness towards Fort Augustus passing through the
villages of Drumnadrochit and Invermoriston and crossing the historic
Caledonian Canal and returning via Whitebridge and Foyers.
NHS Satistics
Nairn Healthcare
was one of the few Practices that remained open on both Good Friday and Easter
Monday benefiting our patients.
During these two
days, the emergency doctor treated 176 patients, routine GP appointments
allowed another 267 patients to be seen by a GP and 95 patients received a
telephone call.
181 patients had a
nursing procedure during Easter weekend and GPs managed to provide a home visit
to 19 of our patients.
Child Immunisation Drop-in Clinic
Nairn Healthcare is
now offering a drop-in clinic from May onwards for children to receive their
routine immunisations.
There is no need to
book an appointment, just pop along and see the Practice Nurse:

Nairn Surgery
Norwegian Visit
Four GPs from Norway will
spend a day at Nairn Healthcare on Wednesday 29th April on an
exchange visit.
They will be in the
Practice between 9.15am – 3.30pm and will observe some surgeries. We look
forward to meeting them and illustrating how Nairn Healthcare functions.
