Staffing

Nairn Healthcare welcomed a new Practice Nurse, Kathryn Henderson, on 6th April. Kathryn is available to do asthma checks, diabetic checks and general nursing procedures such as smear tests and ear syringing.

We will also be welcoming back Dr Alison Browning from maternity leave this month. She will be available from 30th April.

Step Count Challenge Update

The twenty Nairn Healthcare members of staff have now been upping their steps for five weeks. We are more than halfway through our challenge. So far, our step count stands at 7,598,098 steps, the equivalent of 3,800 miles. This is a fantastic effort and we look forward to seeing our final total in three weeks time.

Positive Moves

Prostate Cancer UK, NHS Highland and Highlife Highland have teamed up to create a new physical exercise programme for men diagnosed with prostate cancer. Regular exercise aids recovery by increasing physical stamina, reducing tiredness and improving quality of life.

Positive Moves will give free access to the local leisure facility for up to 12 months for you and your partner or family member, up to three FREE 1 to 1 sessions with local leisure staff; induction to gym equipment and other services and a tour of the facilities with friendly, welcoming staff.

Nairn Healthcare has already sent out letters of invitations to certain patients who qualify for this worthwhile programme.

Etape Loch Ness

Dr Jonathan Ball, Dr Adrian Baker and Dr Audrey Banks took part in a 66 mile cycle around iconic Loch Ness on Sunday 26th April. This was a 360° closed-road route which witnessed them leaving Inverness towards Fort Augustus passing through the villages of Drumnadrochit and Invermoriston and crossing the historic Caledonian Canal and returning via Whitebridge and Foyers.

Easter Weekend

Nairn Healthcare was one of the few Practices that remained open on both Good Friday and Easter Monday benefiting our patients.

During these two days, the emergency doctor treated 176 patients, routine GP appointments allowed another 267 patients to be seen by a GP and 95 patients received a telephone call.

181 patients had a nursing procedure during Easter weekend and GPs managed to provide a home visit to 19 of our patients.

Child Immunisation Drop-in Clinic

Nairn Healthcare is now offering a drop-in clinic from May onwards for children to receive their routine immunisations.

There is no need to book an appointment, just pop along and see the Practice Nurse:
