The lights at this junction have been out for a few days now and there are strong suggestions on the Remove Nairn Traffic Lights Facebook page that the flow of traffic on this part of the A96 has improved. Although there are those who say it has made it difficult for them to exit from the Cranloch/Tradespark area onto the A96, majority reaction seems to be favourable towards switching the lights off permanently. One resident of this area told the Gurn (just after the video below was taken 18.15 yesterday 11th October) that it wasn't much fun waiting for someone to give way on the A96 to let you out at busier times of the day. Would a roundabout be the permanent solution here? There is certainly enough space.

Lights are the best in the town. Leave them in place but make Nairn 20mph end to end
We can gurn all we like but it would seem no-one with any authority wants to run with this one, indeed one of our councillors recently stated that there wasn't a traffic problem in Nairn
We have some new community councillors being appointed in November, I wonder if any of those will take up the cause or will they too feel inept?
It seems as though it's become a shrug of the shoulders issue with Nairn residents resigned to situation rather than feeling enabled to do anything to change it
Will anyone take up the mantle for us?
"indeed one of our councillors recently stated that there wasn't a traffic problem in Nairn"
I think you are referring to an article in the Nairnshire Telegraph anon. It was at least two years ago wasn't it? Anyone got that article?
Well when taking Tarquin to school around 9am I am usually having to rely on cars stopping on the A96 to let me out. Maybe just having the lights switched 'on' at peak periods would be worth a try.
Anonymous you are lucky if you can REACH 20mph in Nairn most days.
These lights, when working, help cars get out of Duncan Drive too which I'm sure is a big help to the "school run" as well as residents etc
Get that lazy bairn to walk to school :-)

Absolutely correct. And they assist with pedestrians wanting to cross any of nearby roads.
Get rid of Albert Street lights first.
I take my life into my own hands when trying to access the A96. Even when cars coming from Nairn see me waiting to turn right, they do not slow down. Please turn the lights back on as soon as possible
It's just preposterous that these traffic lights have not been restored sooner.
Master Crispin has to be awakened 5 minutes early on schooling days so that Parker can transfer him to his place of education on time. This is most inconvenient for the whole family as despite nanny being very quiet the dogs are highly stung and bark at the least disturbance awaking the whole house and I just don't do pre 10:00am
Yours etc
Of course. Those of us in Tradespark don't really matter. Same as Queenspark. Is Nairn only for WestEnd???
Until we get a bypass we will have to live with traffic lights. How do traffic light opponents suggest that academy pupils, elderly folk and disabled, cross the A 96 safely, it might have been okay 20 years ago, but there is just too much traffic nowadays. When they put those traffic lights at the Tradespark junction they should have included a crossing. Far too much emphasis is given to how quick cars can get through Nairn and not enough on the pedestrian.....and remember pedestrians should always have the right of way.

Quite right. Well said. Get yourself onto community council pronto☺
Would they not turn traffic lights back on at junction with A96 as it is nearly impossible t o get into Nairn at peak time the trouble is with lights at Seabank Road / Albert Street that is the hold up in traffic with them not needed as hardly any traffic uses them. So please reinstate lights at Tradespark Road.
Traffic lights at Tradespark Road should be reinstated at once as it is near impossible to turn right onto A96due to flow traffic in both directions so please reinstate lights A S A P
I'm still surprised there isn't a pedestrian crossing near Duncan Drive for the school kids.
It's a shame no-one has the initiative to impose a 20mph limit on the A96 through the whole town, that'd make the road safer for everyone, but it seems no one in authority wants to tackle any of Nairn's road issues?
Spotted this evening a Seimans manny working on the control box at lights, don't know if they are working yet. Should make then part time which will usually allow traffic out of Drunkin Dive at peak times or thinking out the box get the sweeties to walk to the Academy.
Do away with lights at church as it holds up a lot and another set straight after tradespark need this as it stops speeding up by academy or have u forgot how many killed on road up by there but think two set cud b done away at church
