You have A point there. I was offered a barrow a while back wonder if the offer still stands.
YOU know the saying if you want A job done rihgt do it your self and the H.C don't appear to be intrested.
I wonder if we end up hiring the new dredger that Moray Council (as ever more forward thinking than Highland Council) has just had built & is on sea trials.

If they have undertaken a cost-benefit analysis, it may be that hiring Moray Council's dredger is the better deal. Moray are better at some things, but remember that they have wasted how many million in an Elgin Bypass? Nairn just needs its old Council back 'sans dredger'.
Dredging the harbour is a token gesture towards the boat owners who pay thousands of pounds to moor there each year but get little in return including a very tidal harbour that can only be used by many boats near top of the tide. They also face yet another above inflation hike in their mooring fees this year of 5%
That aside the real problem is that of the state of the piers that are badly in need of attention.
Meanwhile the sand from the Culbin will quickly fill the harbour again
Those in the know wanted the harbour built near the swimming baths as that would have allowed for deeper water. Not sure if the west enders were that keen.
Judging by the reaction from some people to the new fence for the sailing and kayak clubs it would seem that some Nairnites would prefer to see the harbour empty of vessels. The Nairnshire once announced that the harbour was to be filled in and made into a car park. Admittedly this was an April fool jolly jape but perhaps that's what some people would like to see
With a draught of not far off 3 metres ,the new Moray dredger would need to dredge its way up the river to get into the harbour, dredge the harbour itself, then very likely dredge its way back out again.....
I Agree with the Captain but A Councilor did say we would have cruse ships coming into Nairn Harbour in ten years so if that is the case we may need both of them permanently dredging for a long time.
