I hope so! No matter how poor we 'MIGHT' become it's better to rule our own country.
We managed fine before and we will manage fine again. I hope people show some guts and vote out. If we are still in after the vote, no use complaining, because we will have done nothing to help ourselves.

1019 PM. Sense at last! In response to a recent 'stay'comment stating that our border in Calais would be moved to Dover if we left the EU .It may be interesting to hear that these agreements were agreed through separate treaties more than 20 years after we joined the EU,so would therefore remain in place in the event of a vote to leave.

Us 'outers' do not wish to face any challenge alone. We wish to co_operate with the whole world and not who the EU says we can.
If we vote for leave,we could create our own free trade agreements across the world(currently forbidden by the EU),and retake our rightful seat in globalorganisations as the World Trade Organisation. The ,£350million a week we send to the EU,could be spent on the NHS,Education indeed anything we want!

Trump, Farage, Boris - can't imagine a mottlier crew for Jack Sparrow. Scotland has always got on well with our European neighbours. Vive Alliance Vieux!! Vote Remain! Je suis European!

I'll be voting to stay rather than side with the 'little England' brigade who seem to want to turn the clocks back to 1950 or thereabouts

It'll be a win win referendum for me as hopefully if we do exit the EU it'll spark another Scottish Independence vote. The UK outwith the EU will make Scotland even more distanced from the politics, thoughts and feelings of rUK, and this time we'll gain our freedom

The whole EU membership debate/referendum was sparked by a split in the Tory party over the issue and ironically no matter what the outcome the party is likely to continue to divide and will face a bleak future. The whole event will cost the UK billions in lost revenue never mind payment for the referendum etc. Politics are changing, it's a shame the Tory party was unable to sort itself out without resorting to very expensive tactics that will cost us all dearly

A lot of older people I have spoken with have said they are voting out because Nicola says it will be a good reason for a second Independence Referendum if England votes out and Scotland votes in.

The UK is clearly split over the issue. Might I suggest we resolve this by letting England leave the EU whilst Scotland stays in

  8. So you think things are bad now9:46 AM

I'd just like to throw this wee thought into the mix - if the vote is to Leave, who will be in charge of this country for at least the next 4 year's? David Cameron will be long gone and the really rabid, right wing faction of his party, the Tory's, will have got what they wanted - they will be in power. God help us all when they are unleashed, what has happened so far will be nothing compared to what they will do. This referendum has little to do with whether we stay or leave the EU, this is a Tory civil war that we are all caught up in the middle of.

I have no idea if leaving is a good idea, I just know this referendum is being held for all the wrong reasons. Project Fear Mark 2, the improved version, is alive and well and scaring the sh*t out of people.

I can't see the point in voting in the referendum. If we vote to stay we retain the status quo and if we vote to leave the ruling elite will overturn that decision. Watch PMQ's at Westminster and you'll see a PM who listens to nobody and doesn't answer questions. We have token democracy from which Scotland is far removed

Of course we want the best possible relationships with our Euro neighbours, but we want to make our own rules and regulations.,Embrace all the different cultures here now.but we can't take many more, stricter controls must be put in place.

Blame the Tories blame England but it was ,Edinburgh born Scot Tony Blair who got the whole country in this mess in the first place.

What will Nicola do if Scotland votes to leave and England vote to stay....surely she couldn 't go back on her word,' that she will always go with the will of the Scottish people.' Guess what she would do, she would pretend it didn't happen. I doubt she would take us out.
Let's get out and get free from Europe we might be poorer, but what will we be if we are still in Europe in ten years time, overcrowded schools, overcrowded hospitals, overcrowded roads, overcrowded everything. We can't deny it, only a fool would.
The thing that is most in danger is the indigenous local.

When will SNP folk realise you can't have independence and still be ruled by Europe. We will be a very small fish in a big sea ruled by Germany. They won t be concerned about us 5 million scots.

  14. Gurnmeister's tuppence worth: well I think we are in the departure lounge but that may change depending on who has got the best scare story the night before. Will be voting remain not with any great joy but simply as it is the lesser of two evils to this observer.

I agree with Graisg re voting. I will vote to stay as I fear what the Tories will do to us without the constraints of the EU when it comes to employment law or civil rights.

Immigration seems to have become the big issue. Scotland has welcomed immigrants for many years and currently they make up around 10% of our population.

Scotland also enjoys a lot of money from the EU. Leaving would make us a poorer country in so many ways

I'm reminded of the Scottish referendum and all that was promised to us if we voted no. Were promises kept?

If we stay in the EU and split from the rest of Britain,Brussels and Angela Merkel will take over not Nicola who.

The laws the eu help form (and for some We then elaborately expand on) relate to trade and working practices/production. They do not create laws around crime etc. This is how the eu sees free trade. Eg being able to register a trademark once and it applying across the eu. If anyone believes we can have "free trade" without both the laws and free movement of labour is kidding themsleves. As for creating our own trade agreement. Ask the Swiss how it works for them. As a smaller market they struggle to get good deals. Eg when wanting a free trade deal with China the deal is China can sell in now and the Swiss can do so in 15 years.

As I see it. Vote to Remain and things will pretty much carry on as normal with us Scots able to complain about Westminster, Brussels, et al. Vote to Leave and we will have no idea who it is we should be complaining about :-)

If UK votes out then we are all out...and Scotland would have to negotiate it's return. EU says there is no way back in.
By the time we are out, they say it will take 2 years. Then wait to see if Scotland gets independence, Maybe!.
By then there might be complete breakdown of European Union anyway. If we leave others might take their chance too.

There is a worrying similarity with those who wish us to Leave the EU and those who urged us to vote Yes in 2014. Both sets of supporters passionately believe in their cause, no doubt. However they seem blind to the fact that if their leap in the dark doesn't work out the way they claim many Scots will find themselves a lot worse off than they are now. Perhaps they think this is a price worth paying for achieving their aims.
