Weekend break-in Millbank Primary School - many items stolen

The following message has been posted on the Millbank School facebook page:

"Weekend Break In

Dear Parent/Carer,
I am very sorry to inform you that Millbank Primary School was broken into at the weekend. Many items were taken such as ipads, cameras and money.
Police officers were at school all morning and have collected evidence and taken statements. We are also in the process of changing locks and evaluating our security systems.
We are all very proud of our school and are devastated at the damage that has been done.

Please be assured that we continue to strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment for your child.
Kind regards,

(Mrs Maria B McPherson, Headteacher)"

Unconfirmed reports on social media earlier today also spoke of vandalism connected with the break in.

    This is such a shame.
Who would do such a thing?

I felt so sorry for the teacher who was obviously upset and shocked about this as they were telling me. Is there something Nairn can do to help?

  2. Hi Anon, I edited your post re what is reported to have been stolen. Best perhaps to wait for a list of the damage done and items stolen to come from the police or Highland Council but it does seem to be quite extensive if the reports are correct - desperately sad. Let's hope the culprits are caught and dealt with very severely.

  3. It would be helpful when the time is right (sooner rather than later ) if a list of stolen items are given out so we as a community and technology can scan all the local and surrounding towns Facebook for sale pages and maybe even E-bay looking for said items up for sale somewhere.

  4. @ anon re insurance, If there is to be community fundraising to replace items then there will have to be a statement from Highland Council re insurance if any and just what needs replacing.

  5. There's not much chance of getting the stuff back or getting the culprits (if caught, which is unlikely) to replace or repair anything, but money always helps.

We've put this notice on display in our shop in the High Street:

    'Millbank Primary School
Following a recent break-in & robbery, the school needs to replace equipment & items that were stolen or vandalised. You can Donate any amount here, by cash, card or cheque.
    Thank you.'

You never know, if everybody donates a £ or 2 or 3, the kids can get their things replaced.

  6. @anon, we can speculate about who did it yes and to a cerain extent I share your sentiment but perhaps we should await what the police and Highland Council have to say?
