New funding to tackle Japanese Knotweed and other invasive species on the River Nairn

"PROJECT managers are now in place to lead an ambitious four-year scheme to reduce the population of American mink and target non-native plants including Japanese knotweed and giant hogweed around riverbanks in Nairn, Findhorn and Lossiemouth."

    Great news indeed as the riverside in the Town Water is badly overrun with Hogweed, Balsam and Knotweed. It will take a few years of spraying and injecting though to get rid of it totally. Not seen a mink for years though but there must be the odd one about still. Good that funding was obtained for this as the horrid stuff prevents you from seeing the river.
