Base of a Roman bronze wine dipper. Found at Auldearn, near Nairn in the Scottish Highlands; currently on display at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery. Label suggests it was possibly used as a diplomatic gift. @SaveRome @romanarchaeouk @Roman_Britain pic.twitter.com/7wYzf3VwdT— Kevin Wilbraham (@KPW1453) November 25, 2018
F*** Inverness...Get it in Nairn. Or alternatively into the Lion Hotel.
ReplyDeleteThere plenty more wine-dippers left in Auldearn .......
ReplyDeleteSadly a lot of Auldearn's pre history items went to Inverness or Edinburgh in the day. Treasure Trove regulations have enabled modern day finds to make their way to Nairn if funding can be found to buy the artifacts.
